Meet Emily Hayes, Senior Editor of Credit Cards at U.S. News & World Report and a valued member of the Cornerstone community. Emily plays a key role in helping people make smart financial decisions by assigning, writing, and editing articles on topics like credit cards, loans, and banking.

Her journey into journalism was driven by a love of writing under pressure and telling stories that matter. Over time, she found her niche in personal finance, a space that might seem intimidating to some, but one she’s grown to love. “I eventually stumbled into writing about credit cards, loans, and banking,” she says. “But I enjoy the niche content and love my team at U.S. News.”

In addition to her full-time role, Emily is also a freelance writer for major consumer brands like Martha Stewart Living and creates custom copy for small businesses. The variety keeps things exciting and allows her to flex her creativity across different platforms and audiences.

Her biggest piece of advice for anyone building a business or career? Start and end each day visualizing your best life. That daily practice of imagining how your work fits into the life you want, she says, can shape your path and guide your decisions in a powerful way.

Beyond the page, Emily has big dreams of city life and hopes to move to Chicago in the near future. If she could teleport anywhere for a midday break, she’d head straight to the Musée du Louvre for a little culture and inspiration.

At Cornerstone, Emily loves the positive energy and warm atmosphere. “Everyone who walks in seems truly happy to be here,” she shares, “which is a testament to the environment they’ve created.”
